Confessions of a thrift store junkie. No pun intended.

Today, I'd like to share a lesser known fact about me: I love thrift stores.

I love them. I think I love them for the same reasons I love couponing. I like the thrill of the chase. I don't mind the looking at hundreds of things to find that one special "needle in the hay stack" thing. I like walking out of stores paying a fraction for something that should have cost a lot more...even if it takes a lot longer. It's just fun for me.

Anyways, today I went to a thrift store with only one goal in mind: find something leather to cut apart for a sewing project. (Side note--cutting apart thrift store finds to make something else...way fun.) So I walk in, and almost immediately find my leather thing/victim, and start heading to the counter. But then I decide "what the heck", I'll go briefly check out the just-got-dropped-off-but-hasn't-been-put-out-yet rack. I know about this sneaky little rack in this store because a while back I asked the manager if such a rack existed. And sure enough, it does.

I head to said rack, and start flipping through. I suddenly realize that I like almost everything on the rack. Literally. The entire corner section looks like stuff that I would totally buy if I saw it at any non-thrift store. So I did what any normal person would do, and proceeded to (fork) lift the entire top section of the rack, and plop it into my cart. I then went to the dressing room to try everything on, only to realize that all of these clothes are basically brand new, and all in my size.

And I think to myself, "I've hit the thrift store jackpot."

I then call my husband, and ask him to please come meet me, and help me not buy all of these things I'm suddenly in love with. He sweetly drives to meet me, and I try it all on for him. He then tells me he loves it all too, and that I should just buy it all. So I did.

I walked out with:

-4 basically brand new, really cute sweaters. All different colors and styles.
-3 cute fall/winter jackets
-2 belts
-1 pair of basically new Gap shorts
-2 shirts/blouses
-1 little black dress
-1 desk organizer (random). But we liked it and thought it would look cute on our desk
-1 brown leather bag

All for a grand total of $47. So basically fifteen things for under $50. I was so excited. I mean, that's less than $4 per thing if you wanted to divide it out. And almost all of it looks like it's never been worn, and almost all brand name labels. Just one of the really cute sweaters would be at least the cost of what I paid for all of it.

Well, that's my story of how I walked in for leather, and walked out with my fall/winter wardrobe. :)
