Once upon a time, I went into Goodwill and walked out with this $2.50 shirt:
I loved the color of the shirt and the fact that it was two sizes bigger than my non-pregnant self. I'd been looking for non-maternity shirts to redo and this one fit the bill perfectly. However, I didn't like that since it was a non-maternity shirt, it just kinda hung straight down around my belly and that the neckline was slightly stretched out.
First things first, I added elastic to the inside sides of the shirt to create the classic maternity shirt shape.
Here's a close up (not my best zig zag but it does the trick):
And then I added some white pleating to cover up the stretched out neckline and ended up with this:
I didn't really have a method for this. I just started pleating the white fabric until it was laying the way I liked it and then ran it through the machine!
YAY for a new-to-me maternity shirt that cost a total of $3.25 and took less than 20 minutes.
